Born in California in 1961, Cecil Yother began working in his Dad's metal fabrication shop at the age of twelve.
He was fortunate that his father had a shop and was willing to teach him the trade. After five years learning
to weld and to operate a mill and lathe, it was time to move on. He answered an ad in the local paper and went
to work as a welder for Franco Vianello at Art Bronze (a lost wax foundry casting bronze) in San Lorenzo, CA.
Cecil served out his apprenticeship under Vianello and then moved on to work at the Artworks in Berkeley, CA
under Piero Mussi, who at one time also worked for Vianello. After less than a year at Artworks, he went on to
another bronze foundry in San Francisco, CA named Cirecast, under Peter Morenstein.
After Cirecast, Cecil set out creating his own artwork. He created a line of bronze gift boxes and steel tables.
The line grew into a unique combination of artwork and furniture.
The pages of this website display an example of the artist's evolution and the direction of his talents. Cecil has
designed and fabricated all of the items on this site. We hope you enjoy the content
